MARY LOU SCHEMPF
We are pleased to have artist Mary Lou Schempf in the Front-Room at Swifty’s.
“My paintings have always reflected my fascination with the nature and quality of light—how light defines not only the physical space, but also the rich, almost palpable atmosphere of a specific moment in time. In the process of painting, I work to discover and capture the unique visual and emotional resonance of the simple and quiet views that I love.”
Mary Lou Schempf has lived in the New York metropolitan area since 1981, working as a painter, muralist, and trompe l’oeil artist.
She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Kansas City Art Institute, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Mary Lou has worked extensively on commissions throughout the United States. In May 2005, GOGA gallery in New York City presented a solo exhibition of her paintings. She participated in several group shows at GOGA gallery in 2006, 2007, and 2008. In 2010 Mary Lou had a solo show of her paintings at The Little Gallery in Stonington, Connecticut, and was in a group show at the Cate Charles Gallery in Stonington in 2010.
Please visit Mary Lou’s web site to view additional works and to contact the artist.
